\n From the first “Vaporetta” ironing\u00a0boards to the magnificent highperformance\u00a0Eagle 2.0 shirt formfinishing\u00a0model, the much awaited\u00a0“showstopper” of\u00a0 EXPOdetergo\u00a0International, this epic story is that\u00a0of a brand nurtured by passionate\u00a0craftsmanship, family management,\u00a0personal relationships, and the\u00a0ability to “anticipate” global market\u00a0developments<\/strong><\/p>\n

Those who chose the name “Pony” over half a century\u00a0ago probably envisioned how it could convey the qualities\u00a0that later would come to characterize a company\u00a0blessed by the enthusiasm and hopes of an epic economic\u00a0boom. “Pony-like” diligence, empathy, beauty\u00a0and endurance in fact characterize the work of each\u00a0department and office within a factory that continuously\u00a0delivers true and proper jewels Made in Italy.
\nBack in 1958, when brothers Angelo and Giovanni Fumagalli opened a steam boiler machine shop, the ironing\u00a0industry was far different from today’s. Pony has\u00a0played an active role in the industry’s evolution ever\u00a0since its first few years in the business, also thanks to\u00a0the brilliant idea of equipping ironing tables with a builtin\u00a0steam boiler.<\/p>\n

1964 marked the launch of “Vaporetta”, the vacuum\u00a0and steaming table which, to this day, identifies the
\nmachine that revolutionized the way we iron.
\nIn the early ’70s, the small Milanese company started\u00a0to transform itself into a true and proper industrial manufacturer,\u00a0thereby establishing an international market\u00a0presence while upholding the values of its founders:\u00a0passion, innovation and the painstaking attention to\u00a0detail. A legacy Pony continues to preserve and apply\u00a0daily to each ironing machine designed and produced\u00a0within the 15,000 m2 of its plant in Inzago (MI). A fine\u00a0example of this is the Eagle 2.0, the “flagship” model of\u00a0the wide-ranging line of shirt form-finishing machines\u00a0designed for modern laundries.
\nHow do latest-generation ironing machines like Pony’s\u00a0Eagle 2.0 come about?<\/p>\n

“First of all, it requires having a well-defined manufacturing\u00a0strategy by which to design and build the entire\u00a0machine\u00a0 in-house, in a manner that allows you to control\u00a0the quality of all materials and every single component\u00a0used. Under that premise, we decided to invest in\u00a0the latest sheet metal processing technology and 3D\u00a0design engineering software” \u2013 explains the president\u00a0of Pony, Paolo Fumagalli, who co-owns the company\u00a0with his sisters Stella and Antonella.
\nWe then formed a technical team of over 15 engineers,\u00a0designers and specialized technicians. Diego Barzaghi,\u00a0head of the carpentry department, confirms that “our\u00a0department recently upgraded to an Amada punch\/fiber-laser combination machine, which is bound to\u00a0play a starring role. This latest generation combination\u00a0cutting machine is connected to an automatic raw material\u00a0stocking and loading unit that operates 24\/7, and\u00a0allows us to constantly deliver on time.
\nThe painstaking attention to detail by which we manufacture\u00a0our products, starting with the selection and\u00a0processing of the required materials, allows us to carry\u00a0on a tradition that sort of makes us “modern metalwork\u00a0artisans”, and promptly fulfill our customers’ requests”.<\/p>\n

The value and number of customer orders has increased\u00a0also thanks to the efforts of three sales representatives\u00a0in the same number of foreign countries, which\u00a0allowed Pony to strengthen its international market\u00a0presence while increasingly focusing on meeting the\u00a0needs of its distributors, and providing top-quality service\u00a0before and after the sale. “The laundry market –\u00a0Michele Plebani explains \u2013 has substantially evolved in\u00a0the last few years. The demand for shirt ironing services\u00a0has increased even for small dry-cleaning and\u00a0dyeing-laundry shops, and automated ironing machines\u00a0are required to do it quickly and at a competitive\u00a0price. The ability to quickly iron shirts at competitive\u00a0prices also boosts the laundry’s sales, as it entices customers\u00a0to bring in other types of clothing. This need\u00a0to renovate and upgrade has been driving up demand\u00a0for form-finishing machines like the Eagle 2.0, in addition\u00a0to special, lease with option to buy promotions\u00a0like the one we are currently running on occasion of
\nPony’s 60th anniversary.”<\/p>\n

The Fumagalli family<\/em><\/p>\n

The future in which the company is investing lies in the\u00a0national and international shirt-ironing market, according\u00a0to Claudio Ferrei and Simon Woehrle, export managers\u00a0in charge of two different macro-market areas,\u00a0and specifically “large industrial laundries, private and\u00a0public hospitality facilities, where shirt-finishing machines\u00a0now work side by side with traditional equipment\u00a0such as ironing tables, ironing presses and toppers,\u00a0which made Pony become a famous top-brand across\u00a0the entire ironing industry”.<\/p>\n

“Our products are a prime example of excellence Made\u00a0in Italy”, states Antonio Donvito, technical director of\u00a0Pony. “Starting from the design concept, we engineer\u00a0and build all of our machines entirely in-house. Our\u00a0plants, including our carpentry, coatings, prototype, and\u00a0testing departments, are equipped with cutting-edge\u00a0technology which allows us to keep up with the times\u00a0and offer innovative products. This effectively translates\u00a0to high-performance ironing machines, both in terms of\u00a0productivity as well as energy consumption and energy\u00a0saving. Besides the now famous H.A.R.S. hot air recovery
\nsystem patented by Pony, we are working on other\u00a0projects like network connectivity to remotely control the\u00a0machines, a few innovations to be unveiled this October\u00a0at EXPOdetergo International in Milan\u201d.

In June, company employees\u00a0 and their families celebrated the anniversary at the majestic\u00a0Villa Borromeo, a special event venue in Cassano\u00a0d’Adda (Milan). Customers and distributors will instead\u00a0find the brand commemorative stand at the forthcoming\u00a0EXPOdetergo trade expo, with special anniversary\u00a0deals that include 60-month financing valid until the\u00a0end of 2018.
