Sector operators have no doubts: the\u00a0XXI century has led to a revolution in\u00a0the textile sector, still in progress.<\/strong>
\nThe change has fully involved the\u00a0entire sector by integrating the\u00a0traditional cleaning and\u00a0 hygiene\u00a0functions with their new multi-service\u00a0nature able to meet the widest range\u00a0of clients\u2019 needs today. Including the\u00a0need to skip the shop and use an app\u00a0<\/strong>instead in order to book laundry home\u00a0withdrawal and delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cWhether it is a family run business, a reference point to a\u00a0neighborhood, a franchising network at a shopping mall or\u00a0perhaps a coin op, everyone agrees about one thing: over\u00a0ten years, given the crisis and the change in habits of Turin\u00a0inhabitants, the market of washing and ironing has almost\u00a0halved. The change has led shops to offering a wider range\u00a0of services in order to be more attractive by e.g. offering a\u00a0quicker service, and to study more original solutions\u201d.
\nAs far as the topic of this reportage, \u201cThe XXI Century Laundry\u201d\u00a0is concerned, the above extract was written by Federico\u00a0Callegaro in La Stampa newspaper on 10 January\u00a02015. Four years later, we well know that the results of\u00a0that enquiry carried out in Turin and areas around it, speak\u00a0not only for Italy but for the entire world. Today, we can\u00a0actually state that, considering what has happened since\u00a02015, the article had been prophetic. Based on previously\u00a0verified elements on site, the analysis had been able to\u00a0outline the development of the sector, which eventually did\u00a0take place. It also highlighted the dawning of innovation\u00a0trends back then.<\/p>\n

Back then, during the longest, post war economic crisis,\u00a0the textile care sector proved, first of all, to itself, to have\u00a0an essential economic, social and cultural function that the\u00a0globalized world cannot do without. Clearly, we cannot live\u00a0without structures that wash millions of tons of linen every\u00a0day, destined for hospitals, nursery homes, hotels and restaurants,\u00a0and those that clean the garments for all of us,\u00a0the humanity scattered on all the five continents.
\nEven at the cost of radically changing productive systems\u00a0and marketing strategies such as collaborations with other\u00a0sectors, which was still unthinkable yesterday. It particularly\u00a0seems to refer to artisan and commercial dry-cleaning\u00a0\u201cshops\u201d that we all know well. \u201cOn the other hand, right\u00a0after the food I eat, what is the next most intimate thing if\u00a0not the clothes I wear?\u201d \"\"makes his point Marco Niccolini,\u00a0the Sales Director at Renzacci,<\/span> a producer of laundry machines from Citt\u00e0 di Castello<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span> He continues: \u201cIt\u00a0has always been like this but only recently has it become\u00a0everybody\u2019s acquired awareness. The XXI century laundries\u00a0actually tell us about it proving that they are staying on the\u00a0market thanks to the totally new vision of Wellbeing that\u00a0has become the main, requested mission of this sector. To\u00a0the point that today, everything considered as the non-washable\u00a0has entered the laundries. These are items requiring\u00a0specific treatments. We are talking about sanitazing or disinfection\u00a0of bags, shoes, helmets or duvets: our everyday\u00a0items that need to follow precise hygienic standards so that\u00a0we can use them every day\u201d.
\n\u201cWe rely on laundries as far as the global idea of Wellbeing\u00a0goes \u2013 concludes Niccolini \u2013 and the young, last generations\u00a0have mastered this fact brilliantly. They would choose\u00a0services they need regardless the location. These are the\u00a0new users who favor services on demand such as laundries\u00a0picking up garments from their houses and delivering\u00a0them back, an authentic revolution destined to change the\u00a0way textile care businesses look and operate\u201d.
\n\"\"\u201cThe change in progress is quite impressive. It is a nonreturn\u00a0point on the road leading us towards laundry models\u00a0that are still unthinkable today\u201d says Carlo Miotto, the\u00a0Managing Director of Imesa, a producer of laundry\u00a0machines based in Cessalto, Treviso province<\/span><\/strong>. He explains:\u00a0\u201cWe still call them laundries but perhaps tomorrow,\u00a0they could change the name simply because their multiutility\u00a0nature will boost. These are physical places where I\u00a0come to wash my five shirts but once I am there, I might\u00a0as well need to make a copy of my keys, have my pair of\u00a0trousers fixed by a tailor or I might want to get some coffee\u00a0capsules as well\u201d. \u201cBecause the key element here is called\u00a0\u00a0free time \u2013 Miotto clarifies \u2013 which is something that has\u00a0and will become even more precious in this liquid, serviceand work oriented society with its quick pace and specific\u00a0methods. To the point that, in big cities, where many shut\u00a0down their computers late at night, a laundry, apart from\u00a0being a physical place made of bricks and walls, becomes\u00a0a service just like an app to activate on my Smartphone. I\u00a0will need somebody to pass by my house at eleven p.m.\u00a0to pick up garments to clean and deliver the clean ones\u00a0picked up last week. The testing of first drone home deliveries\u00a0has already started\u201d.
\n\"\"Looking forward to the spectacular home deliveries Miotto is\u00a0talking about, it is important to underline how clear and significant\u00a0the innovation signs are today. Giuseppe Conti, the\u00a0owner of A13, a producer of laundry accessories based\u00a0in Milan<\/span> <\/strong>comments on one of them. \u201cI was particularly surprised\u00a0by one of the laundries in Milan \u2013 Conti reveals \u2013 and its\u00a0ironing room. The solution they apply is that all the heat produced\u00a0by machines is vacuumed by pipes that, apart from\u00a0keeping the working environment fresh, direct it to\u00a0an adjacent room where it is used to dry winter coats\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch attention to sustainability and energy saving \u2013 Conti\u00a0continues \u2013 was unthinkable at the beginning of this century.
\nToday, any productive environment, including laundries,\u00a0has become aware of these priorities\u201d.
\n\u201cWho understands innovative processes well and benefits\u00a0from their consequences, will inevitably run ahead of the\u00a0others, also as far as automation and resource management\u00a0are concerned\u201d underlines Marco Ziliani, the Sales\u00a0Director at Trevil, a producer of ironing machines\u00a0from Pozzo d\u2019Adda, near Milan<\/span><\/strong>. \u201cIt obviously refers to\u00a0human factor as well. What I mean is the ability to analise\u00a0and take initiative to develop certain reasoning as the first\u00a0ones. Trevil staff has recently seen this in Estonia \u2013 Ziliani\u00a0continues. \u2013 The competences and communicative skills\u00a0of our distributor based in this Baltic country have become\u00a0decisive in convincing businesses, through valid argumentation,\u00a0to replace the machines. This has been dictated by\u00a0the necessity to keep the competitive level high by increasing\u00a0the automation in productive processes. Who can face\u00a0this truth, will inevitably understand the direction of innovation\u00a0that the laundries of the XXI century have taken\u201d.
\n\"\"\u201cConsidering the global laundry business, we can easily\u00a0conclude by saying that the transition from 1900 to 2000\u00a0has been completed\u201d says Livio Bassan, the Managing\u00a0Director of Christeyns Italia,<\/span><\/strong> a producer of chemical\u00a0products for laundries headquartered in Pessano con\u00a0Bornago, near Milan. He continues: \u201cWe can deduce it\u00a0from the general progress characterized by the continuous\u00a0improvements in terms of consumption reduction, a complete\u00a0and constant management of information and the full\u00a0implementation of standards on the basis of which businesses\u00a0sustainability is measured\u201d. \u201cAt this point, it is an\u00a0irreversible process \u2013 Bassan continues. \u2013 We can perceive\u00a0it from millions of tags that identify garments coming in and\u00a0out of laundries all over the world every day\u201d.
\n\"\"To conclude, the \u201cfairy tale morale\u201d on chemical sector\u00a0comes from Stenilio Morazzini, the CEO of Montega<\/span><\/strong>
\nbased in Santa Monica, in Rimini province:<\/span><\/strong> \u201cToday,\u00a0there are no old laundries any more. The ones we see are\u00a0all new and they constitute an authorised endorsement of\u00a0our times\u201d. \u2022<\/p>\n
