While the horrifying and growing \u201cplastic\u00a0emergency\u201d is devastating the Pacific\u00a0by polluting an area that is three times\u00a0<\/strong>bigger than Lombardy region alone, an\u00a0absolutely excellent brand specialized in\u00a0run resistant fabrics production is working\u00a0<\/strong>side by side with Centro Nazionale per\u00a0le Ricerche (National Research Centre)\u00a0on sustainability, irrevocable as it has\u00a0<\/strong>become today. The first scientific data\u00a0obtained by the virtuous collaboration\u00a0confirm the benefits of the productive\u00a0<\/strong>system adopted by the factory based in\u00a0Varese area<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u201dplastic emergency\u201d, as the horrible, huge island of floating\u00a0waste in the Pacific Ocean proves, and whose size is\u00a0three times bigger than Lombardy region, does not allow\u00a0for any further postponements nor hesitation. It, therefore\u00a0becomes obligatory for the papers to signal all the initiatives\u00a0born within the productive realities in order to stop and\u00a0limit the polluting process of such dimensions. Considering\u00a0the field, Detergo magazine, that addresses the textile care\u00a0industry, can only give the visibility to the initiative that sees\u00a0the specific research on microplastics carried out by the\u00a0CNR, Centro Nazionale delle Ricerche (National Research\u00a0Centre) at their headquarters in Biella in collaboration with\u00a0Eurojersey. The latter one, with its headquarters in Caronno\u00a0Pertusella, in Varese province, has been recognized as\u00a0one of the excellent Made in Italy businesses producing run\u00a0resistant textiles, Sensitive\u00ae Fabrics. We have asked a few\u00a0questions regarding the research results in the interview\u00a0with Mrs. Michela Delle Donne, the Head of Marketing at\u00a0Eurojersey.<\/p>\n

– Mrs. Delle Donne, what did the first years of Eurojersey\u00a0partnership with WWF Italia mean?<\/strong>
\n\u201cThe collaboration with WWF Italia started in 2015. It represents\u00a0one of the activities carried out by Eurojersey in the\u00a0role of a sustainable business that focuses on the protection\u00a0of our environment beyond the boundaries of the company.
\nThe topic of the new, 3-year partnership is water as\u00a0our planet\u2019s resource. It will involve solid initiatives that aim\u00a0at the protection of our seas and deal with the sustainable\u00a0fishing, sharks protection issues and wellbeing indicators of\u00a0our sea eco-system\u201d.
\n\"\"– What were the origins of the program initiated in 2007,\u00a0the SensitivEcoSystem\u00ae?<\/strong>
\n\u201cThe SensitivEcoSystem\u00ae project was born here at Eurojersey\u00a0as a result of the willingness to measure the environmental\u00a0impact that the production of our textiles, Sensitive\u00a0\u00ae Fabrics can have, and work on it. It is about process\u00a0sustainability because we are monitoring every single stage\u00a0of the production in order to reduce the use of water, energy,\u00a0chemical products and CO2 emissions together with a\u00a0careful waste management procedure\u201d.
\n– What about the Sensitive\u00aeFabrics line in such context?<\/strong>
\n\u201cEurojersey produces the patented range of fabrics, Sensitive\u00a0\u00ae Fabrics only. It is an exclusive weave of nylon and\u00a0elastomeric lycra fiber. Measuring the impact allowed us to\u00a0improve the performance of our Sensitive\u00ae Fabrics\u201d.
\n– What were the reasons for starting the studies together\u00a0with the CNR from Biella?<\/strong>
\n\u201cOur company wanted to verify the presence of microplastics\u00a0in our fabrics washing and drying stages. The project
\nstarted as a consequence of our willingness to verify it\u201d.
\n– What are the results of the research?<\/strong>
\n\u201cThe results are quite encouraging for us, actually. The\u00a0compact construction of our fabrics, obtained through\u00a0continuous spinning, allows for a limited release of microplastics\u00a0if compared to other fabrics from the same category.\u00a0We are going to continue the collaboration with the\u00a0CNR institute to further deepen the topic\u201d.
\n– What are the considerations of Eurojersey?<\/strong>
\n\u201cThe topic of microplastics in textiles definitely constitutes\u00a0current news, yet we believe there is still quite a lot of con\u00a0fusion about this and still today, there isn\u2019t any single clear\u00a0method on the classification of microplastics release in our\u00a0sector\u201d.
\n\"\"– What is the significance of the participation in the\u00a0ZDHC international program that aims at eliminating\u00a0the chemical polluting substances from textile processes\u00a0by 2020?<\/strong>
\n\u201cIt is a very important participation for Eurojersey as it translates\u00a0to the possibility of being able to manage chemical\u00a0 products within the productive processes better together\u00a0with the training of our chemical manager who interacts\u00a0with various company functions and suppliers in order to\u00a0define actions aiming at both product and production improvement\u201d.
\n– What is our future, according to Eurojersey?<\/strong>
\n\u201cA more sustainable future, definitely. From our side, for\u00a0more than ten years, we have been following an eco-friendly
\nproduction policy aiming at the protection of the environment\u00a0and our territory.\u201d \u2022<\/p>\n
