“The problem of distribution constitutes a critical point in workwear treatment and rental, especially for large businesses. Costs and the necessary room are both important in the evaluation of any automatic distribution system. A solution called GATESCAN, introduced to me by Emil Software, has simplified the installation activities and the maintenance of the systems. Fully compatible with 4.0 industry points, it has also reduced the running costs.”
Paolo Vetricini – Marawash Laundry

“Until some time ago, RFID was perceived as just a way to increase the productivity and improve the efficiency through costs reduction, those arising from loss or theft of textiles subjected to industrial treatment. Today however, RFID is perceived more and more as a powerful tool in obtaining a competitive advantage as it allows to supply clients with a high added-value service that would otherwise not be possible without the RFID (such as the touchless management of garments, crucial during the times of the pandemic, or a high level accuracy in the piece count and reporting that allow for “zero-conflicts”
clients wise).
RFID is not just one of many possibilities, but it is the ultimate option that makes your business grow.”
Carlo Redaelli – Datamars Textile ID

Over the recent times, also due to COVID emergency, some new business needs and requirements have been outlined in regard to the supplying of linen, accessories, professional equipment, workwear and uniforms.
A request for a reliable logistics system that would sharply reduce the contact between the personnel and that would maximize the precision and the count velocity of the arriving and outgoing items have become more and more urgent.

Touchless pass reader

Combining the skills, the know-how and experience of three leading businesses of the sector: Saima Sicurezza (a leader in the security systems and access control), Datamars Textile ID (specialized in the production of microchips based on the RFID technology) and Emil Software (experts in the development of software solutions and the creators of a management suite called PROLAV) has led to the creation of GATESCAN, an innovative solution for the pick-up and delivery of professional garments. Thanks to an integrated system applied, the storage area access and exit include a safety door and the material is scanned through a RFID microchip reader.

RFID scan area

The system does not need to be controlled by operators. It guarantees a simple, univocal solution and a total control of the access to the dedicated areas for the material pick-up and delivery. It also ensures the precision in the counting of the picked-up pieces and those returned by operators.
GATESCAN is completely touchless both at the entrance to the storage area and while leaving it. Therefore, it guarantees an optimal protection level for workers.

Safety door

How does it work?
A safety door is equipped with a pass reading device and a user recognition function for those who pass through. The system supports all the entrance operations by providing necessary information through a user display including a natural speech synthesizer for the visually impaired users.
Inside the access gate, there are antennas that read the RFID chips associated to the articles. They allow to identify the exact type and quantity of materials that users withdraw or bring to the storage area.
“The offer is highly customized because” – SAIMA SICUREZZA explains – “nowadays, every client operating in the access control sector searches for a real “tailor made” solution more and more often, which reflects their specific requirements in terms of safety and security.”

Advantages for businesses
The GATESCAN system allows operators to handle, supply and procure material in a fully autonomous and safe way. The traceability of the pick-up operations and a correct delivery constitutes a greater guarantee of safety for workers anytime companies should need to supply the staff with personal safety protection devices. The application of this technology allows for any type of garments setting, any capacity or dimensions. It provides a double certification of the operations both during the material pick-up and the delivery stage.
What is more, GATESCAN settings can also be configured to control operators’ access to the areas at risk, thus guaranteeing the supply of personal safety protection devices. •
