Ecolab, with a business of around $13.5 billion in 2015 and 47,000 associates worldwide (660 in Italy) is the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services that protect people and vital resources. And now, it is going to make the most of their new headquarters, just opened in the new Energy Park in Vimercate
Ecolab has succeeded in creating trailblazing innovations that make the world a safer, cleaner and healthier place thanks to the different divisions that operate in different markets: healthcare, food, hospitality, industrial laundries, energy markets. Ecolab delivers comprehensive solutions and onsite services to meet cleaning and safety needs of the customers in more than 170 countries in the world.
On March 23, the ribbon was cut in the new building in the innovative sustainable technological business centre Energy Park in Vimercate. Ecolab has relocated its Italian headquarters to Vimercate, moving just a few kilometres away from its former location. The old office was located in Agrate Brianza in the Colleoni business centre.

The ceremony was attended by Ecolab’s European and local management teams, about 120 employees
from the new location. The major of Vimercate Francesco Sartini cut the official ribbon. Also architects Paolo Garretti and Mauro Ferroni, the Managing Director of Segro, a company that owns the new “Energy Park” buildings attended the event. Alberto Serafini, VP and Market Head South Europe did the honours: “It was time for Ecolab Italy to find a new home”, he started in a big hall crowded with people and continued: “With the Galileo project we aimed at offering our associates a great place to work. I think we reached our goals by choosing a modern location just a few kilometres away from the old one.

Architect Garretti explained the concept and philosophy at the base of the Energy Park and highlighted its innovation and environmental sustainability. Environmental and sustainable strategies, and energy saving actions have been implemented to best provide a unique and comfortable work place in the buildings with the least environmental impact possible: sun path studies and bioclimatic factor optimization to provide minimum light trespass and reduction of sky-glow, the reduction of wastewater and potable water, displacement of recyclable resources and reusable materials, solar heating
in winter and passive cooling in summer have been some of the distinctive features of the project.
The companies located in these buildings inside the Energy Park have been selected and chosen as their standards match the sustainability and innovation concepts promoted by architect Garretti for the Energy Park.
Brand relevance visibility of the buildings and an easy access to the nearby cities together with great green areas all around contribute to the uniqueness and the special nature of this new location.
Darrell Brown, the Executive Vice President and the President of Ecoab Europe said: “This is for sure one of the best offices in Europe”. Ecolab has a strong focus on people and their well-being that is why, it offers the highest standards in terms of safety, comfort and innovation.

The major Francesco Sartini added: “It is clear that the choice of this location is the result of a work done by passionate people. The work done in this building and in the Energy Park relates to environmental sustainability and is therefore, very important for this area”.

Ecolab is sensitive to the needs of preserving the natural resources of the planet and reducing the environmental impact while providing sustainable solutions and services.
Since the demand by the laundries is more and more related to “clean solutions”, that are sustainable and that can guarantee the control of total costs at the same time, Ecolab has worked at different levels:
• Innovative and more sustainable formulations together with the last generation compacted and easily washable emulsions (Performance® emulsion, Oxyguard emulsion)
• Complete product offer with Ecolabel or Nordic Swan certifications: a complete range of detergents, surfactant boosters, oxygen bleach and softeners, Ecolabel or Nordic Swan certified and the Oxyguard™40 program Ecolabel certified that meet the different needs of the customers in terms of sustainable and efficient washing processes.
• Low temperature washing processes to save water and energy (Oxyguard™40 & Perfomance™40)
• Plant process optimization, real-time data analysis and reporting: enVision™|365 Process Intelligence will be launched soon and it represents the new platform developed to monitor the laundry critical washing parameters 365 days a year. The platform will provide laundry managers with the insights to better control the textile quality and improve the plant productivity.
Ecolab has chosen the unique technology of emulsion to create their main liquid detergents within the
different programs applying special technology “to do more with less”!
The particular nature of the emulsions, patented technology ensures brilliant washing results in different
conditions of water hardness, metal presence and different types of soil: the emulsions are-shot detergents that contain a special mix of surfactants, optical brighteners, complexing and anti-scaling agents, anti-greying agents, which constitute all the necessary components to wash, except the bleach!
Thanks to this special “compacted” nature (they contain less water than the usual detergents), the emulsions can incorporate water-insoluble components, without any risk of separation. Ecolab has developed a brand new generation of emulsions, efficient at washing at low temperatures, thanks to the special mix of innovative surfactants and other active ingredients. All of them are easily washable and have an Ecolabel or Nordic Swan version.
Based on the new technology of the main detergent, Ecolab has created highly efficient programs, such
as OxyGuard™40 and Performance® Industrial, with respectively Oxyguard emulsion and Performance® emulsion that differ in terms of type and content of surfactants and that work on specific oil and grease dirt, complexing and anti-greying agents.
Another step ahead in the sustainable innovation is the new technology used in the program Perfomance Industrial.
It helps wash the garments better preserving their technical features and getting the soil out of the
fibres: the “soil removing technology”, SRT, combines the latest developments in the chemical field with compounds that are effective on the fibres and that prevent the soil from entering the fibres and re-deposit on textiles contributing to their easy wash.
In the Performance® Industrial program, Ecolab developed new, easy to wash and alkali formulations with new and safer components for the textiles. Performance® Emulsion, Performance® Ultraboost and Performance® booster work together in perfect synergy to adapt the anti-soiling and emulsifying power to dirt and textiles: maximum efficiency combined with the best textile protection.
All these solutions give multiple advantages:
– an extremely high degree of whiteness,
– fresh and vibrant colours over long textile cycles,
– outstanding finish quality and perfect hygienic results,
– RKI certified and approved by the Ministry of Health, thanks to the broad biocide activity at 40°C (Dermasil emulsion & Ozonit 40), 55°C and 65°C (Perfomance ® emulsion/Oxyguard emulsion & Ozonit & Ozonit Performance®). •
