For the new 2021/2022 season, Manchester United has entered an innovative partnership with Ecolab, the global leader in water, hygiene and infection prevention, to adopt its science-based solutions across Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground. Manchester United will draw on Ecolab’s expertise to show leadership in hygiene and sustainable practices, helping create a cleaner environment for fans, staff and players and promote public health.

This extensive partnership will combine Ecolab’s breadth of expertise with Manchester United’s focus on a cleaner, more sustainable future. Moreover, the Club has committed to working with Ecolab to deliver a higher level of cleanliness based on rigorous cleaning protocols, training and audits that will earn the Club the official Ecolab Science Certified™ seal.
All areas of United’s iconic Old Trafford stadium and Carrington training ground are being equipped with Ecolab hand disinfectant, also used across the National Health Service (NHS). From seating areas, hospitality boxes and kitchens, to the dressing rooms, training facilities and office spaces, Ecolab’s solutions and technology will benefit fans, players and staff in every part of the Club.

A customised textile care solution for United’s laundry will deliver improved quality, safety, and sustainability standards when washing players kits and linens. “We’re protecting the players and making certain Manchester United’s Red Devils keep clean sheets,” says Gordon Murphy, responsible Territory Manager for Manchester. Ecolab will be introducing the new and innovative SoftGuard Delicate program, a very gentle, ultra-efficient wash process for delicate textiles with outstanding colour protection, delivering brilliant colours and sparkling whites, wash after wash – to keep the reds red and the whites white.
All washing processes are designed as D+ process, meaning disinfection wash processes include virucidal efficacy according to the EN14476 norm at 40°C. The highest level of sustainability is provided by the delicate detergent that has received EU Ecolabel certification (DE/039/014). To monitor all relevant quality and process parameters, enVision, the real time data management solution for Textile Care will be installed. Manchester United’s staff and Ecolab can monitor the wash process 24/7 to ensure cleaner and safer shirts and sheets at all times.
