The COVID-19 pandemic has made very clear the importance of disinfecting textiles to fight the spread of viruses and bacteria. It is essential to have specific tools and solutions so that laundry services and dry cleaners can do their washing in a way that successfully guarantees the proper removal of the invisible and possibly harmful elements to human health from fabrics, which is a new challenge for the sector
COVID-19 has had a global impact on all sectors, leading to a new situation that is full of uncertainty and new challenges. Laundry services and dry cleaners, which have been classified as essential services, have taken on a particularly important role during this pandemic due to the need for tools and methods that can effectively disinfect textiles, which is essential for fighting the pandemic and protecting people’s health. What is more, these disinfection and sterilisation processes are even more significant if we focus on facilities like hospitals and senior care homes, which have delicate or at-risk populations and where it is important to absolutely guarantee that all the material, e.g. clothing, sheets, gowns, etc. are completely virus-free.
Given all of this, Girbau is totally focused on addressing this current challenge and the post-COVID scenario. Although there won’t be any magic recipes, the company is clear that its strategy is based on supporting clients, suppliers and employees more than ever.
In this regard, the company is channelling all its efforts into anticipating clients’ needs, by providing solutions that guarantee the highest standards of hygiene and disinfection, and by developing specific solutions geared towards adding value to clients’ business through comprehensive consulting and guidance.
In this line, in order to help clients prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19, Girbau has recently launched a new, specific tool for disinfecting, which ensures that users meet the cleanliness standards required to completely eliminate any harmful micro-organisms. This is a clear example of the company’s ability to adapt quickly and address the market needs.
Called the COVID-19 Disinfection Monitoring Package (COVID-19 DMP), this new solution is a new programme integrated into Sapphire, Girbau’s smart remote-control software. With this new functionality, the company hopes to help its clients, above all hotels, senior care centres and other facilities with their own laundry services, with their prevention and disinfection strategies, ensuring protocols that meet the demands of the new normality.
In this regard, COVID-19 DMP has a key role to play, as it provides a remote data registry system that can trace temperature and cycle length for proper disinfection of each load and ensures that the process has been carried out successfully.
CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY FOR A SAFE WASH
With COVID-19 DMP, Girbau is offering high value added to its clients’ businesses with latest-generation software to ensure the elimination of harmful microorganisms.
So, COVID-19 DMP provides detailed information on the control parameters, allowing users to ensure that the disinfection criteria established by the client beforehand are met.
At the same time, it gives users the option to create their own disinfection criteria, based on the length and temperature of the programme on each machine, adapting to clients’ specific needs. This solution gives users a summary of all the rules and conditions created, which programmes and machines they apply to, and a specific report where they can check that the programmes and machines are following the specific disinfection rules. If the wash cycle didn’t meet a disinfection condition, the users will be notified with an alert. At the same time, it is possible to remotely manage all wash-cycle parameters, including the temperature, water level and phases of the cycle, and closely monitor it all on the recording of the whole cycle history.
COVID-19 DMP is compatible with Girbau washers in the HS6 range. This line offers highly precise temperature control. It also offers Wet Cleaning, the only system that can eliminate micro-organisms from delicate fabrics.
In the words of Mike Floyd, global Marketing director for Girbau: “COVID-19 and the return to normality are a huge challenge for the laundry sector.
Aware of the need this creates, at Girbau we have channelled all our efforts into developing a ground-breaking solution that allows clients to properly respond to the challenge that disinfecting textiles poses today to care for and keep people healthy.”
Innovation and sustainability will be two crucial aspects in the sector’s recovery, which is why Girbau is always working to provide innovative, sustainable, efficient solutions that add value to its clients’ businesses and to the society as a whole. •
